Katie is a communications strategist with expertise in media analysis who uses stories as a powerful tool to drive change.
Prior to joining Spitfire, Katie was the deputy director for rapid response at Media Matters for America. Her team was on the front lines of identifying emerging media trends, countering misinformation and crafting narratives that redefined the terms of the debate on a range of topics including immigration, health care, economic and racial justice, and media representation. She is a specialist in rapid response communications, narrative building, synthesizing complicated information into digestible stories and tailoring her clients’ messages for targeted audiences. Her work has been cited by and influenced coverage in outlets like The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, HuffPost, The Daily Beast, MSNBC, CNN, Fox News and several late-night comedy shows.
Katie is based in Spitfire’s New York office. Originally from Philadelphia, Katie graduated from Vassar College with a B.A. in political science. Following graduation, she worked on Capitol Hill and at the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition, an organization specializing in corporate social responsibility for electronics companies.
