Senior Account Executive
Haley McKey joins Spitfire with a strong background in environmental advocacy, and is excited to bring her communication skills to diverse issues like immigration, women’s reproductive rights and advancing racial and socio-economic equality.
At Defenders of Wildlife, she created national communication strategies for protecting national monuments, defending the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and keeping harmful anti-environmental riders out of must-pass legislation like the Interior spending bill and the National Defense Authorization Act. Haley created social media advertising campaigns and trained Defenders spokespeople for radio and on-camera interviews. She takes pride in her ability to work collaboratively with a variety of partners, from Hill staff to local advocates, to get results. Prior to her work with Defenders, she contracted for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s grant program and has also served as an intern for the agency’s Office of Migratory Birds and Office of Public Affairs.
Originally from Arlington, VA, Haley graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in biology. During her time there, she was a journalist for the Cavalier Daily student newspaper and worked for the University’s Center for Survey research.
In her free time, she is actively involved in the art community in D.C. and is an avid equestrian.
