Annette Raveneau

Annette is a bilingual communication strategist who brings her bicultural, bicoastal and Spanish-language broadcast journalism experience to enhance her work. Her personal, professional and academic experiences as a Black immigrant and first-generation college graduate have intimately informed her on the impact of policies on the human experience and fostered her passion for social justice issues.

Annette uses communication to center the wholeness and complexity of diverse communities and inform policymakers about the impact of programs on communities with low wages and low financial wealth, many of whom are Black, immigrant, Indigenous and/or Latino.

At Spitfire, Annette partners with organizations across a range of issues, including Indigenous guardianship, biodiversity and climate change, health equity, legal justice reform, culture shift and digital rights and security to effectively communicate with stakeholders and decision-makers to spark the change they want to see. She also works with the Spitfire learning team as a facilitator and coach to support organizations and individuals with their unique communication goals.

Before joining Spitfire, Annette was a communications officer for The Pew Charitable Trusts, where she managed the international marine protection portfolio for the Blue Nature Alliance. She previously directed communication efforts at several national organizations like Families USA and local nongovernmental organizations, like the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone, based in Washington and New York City, respectively, where she worked on health care and health equity policy issues such as the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, Medicaid and CHIP, as well as created communication strategies focused on workforce development, affordable lending for entrepreneurs, and grants for cultural and artistic organizations. While working for a health care nonprofit in Washington, Annette managed the communication efforts of the Texas, Florida, Georgia and Arizona teams traveling extensively to facilitate media trainings and serve as spokesperson for English and Spanish language media.

Annette earned a Master of Policy Management from Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Florida International University. She has a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida and a Certificate in Education Finance from the Edunomics Lab at Georgetown University.
