Katie Test is a seasoned public relations and social media strategist with a deep background in education. Katie leads the firm’s education portfolio, working with foundations and nonprofits in the PK-12 and higher education space. Katie leads the firm’s work with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in priority states and nationwide to support grantees of the US Education programs. She also works with clients such as Magnet Schools of America, Educators for Excellence and the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) to create and implement smart communication strategy that drives real change in classrooms across the country. Katie’s clients have also included Johns Hopkins University’s Talent Development Secondary and grantees of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, including Communities in Schools. Katie’s work in education crosses into the STEAM space, working with both MIT Media Lab’s Scratch Foundation and The Arthur M Blank Family Foundation’s Pipeline Project.
Prior to joining Spitfire, Katie was the Communications Director at the international education association ASCD (formerly the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development). She set direction for traditional and social media for the organization and guided the executive team and board members through developing thought leadership and reputation management. Her work strengthened the ASCD brand around the globe and garnered a record-breaking amount of news coverage, along with earning the association the honor of being named the #1 Social Media Savvy Association in education by Association Trends.

Also in the education sector, Katie served in the Office of Family and Public Engagement for District of Columbia Public Schools, where she was the point of contact for internal and external communications, and worked in the communication department for Durham Public Schools and Charlotte Mecklenburg Public Schools.
