Senior Account Manager
Devon Haynes is an experienced communications professional with a background in policy. With a love for writing and editing, she excels at translating communication goals into stakeholder action and has a deep appreciation for the integral role that strategic communication plays in shaping public policy. Women’s advocacy and environmental conservation are two of her favorite issue areas, but she has worked on accounts ranging from cybersecurity to cultural heritage preservation.
At Spitfire, Devon’s work with Ascend at the Aspen Institute provided valuable insight into how to strategically message 2Gen anti-poverty policy initiatives so that they would be championed on both sides of the political aisle. Social media support she provided at the Aspen Ascend Forum for Children and Families contributed to #FamiliesAscend trending nationally.
Prior to joining Spitfire, Devon developed strategic communication plans and assessments for the U.S. Navy’s Chief Information Officer at the Pentagon.
Previously, she interned in the office of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), held a Public Policy Fellowship at the American Association of University Women, and was a communications and writing associate with the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves at the UN Foundation.
Originally from Washington, D.C., Devon graduated from Pitzer College in Claremont, California with a B.A. in political science and environmental studies. In her free time, Devon writes a weekly newsletter about women’s advocacy, goes on runs around the city, cheers on the Washington Nationals (a heartbreaking endeavor) and enjoys trying new restaurants.
