The vice president’s primary responsibilities are managing client accounts and assisting in growth and development of staff as well as the overall firm. This involves expanding and securing new business, managing project portfolio that meets or exceeds projections, and participating in the internal management of the company. The vice president will guide staff development through identifying skills needs, delegating tasks appropriately and motivating project staff to provide outstanding client service. Vice presidents are expected to specialize in a specific business silo (i.e., training, policy, positioning, etc.), but should be proficient in all aspects of the business and be able to lead assigned accounts as needed regardless of client’s needs.
Bachelor’s degree in related field and minimum of 12 years public relations, public affairs agency, Hill or related experience with minimum of five years agency experience required. Must have superior writing and editing skills; proven ability to craft creative solutions to tough communication challenges; demonstrated management techniques for cultivating, rewarding and retaining high performers; and direct experience working on issues relevant to Spitfire’s current clients.
San Francisco, CA
The director’s primary responsibilities are leading, managing and expanding client accounts as either the primary lead or second in command. This involves developing and managing project work plans and budgets, updating management on progress of projects, acting as primary client contact, managing junior staff members and working with management and accounting as needed to ensure proper billing. When acting as the second senior member of an account, the director will take direction from the account lead and provide input into strategy or assistance with implementation as directed. A director is also expected to work with the team lead to ensure overall quality control on assigned accounts and assist with management of the team.
Senior Account Manager
The Senior Account Manager’s primary responsibilities are to lead day-to-day efforts on smaller client projects and implement assigned pieces of larger accounts. Assigned tasks include, but may not be limited to, drafting high-quality client materials and presentations from the proposal phase through implementation, conducting media relations, conducting outreach with policymakers and/or staff at local, state and national levels, creating communications strategies for clients and participating in training programs. Other tasks include leading small projects, providing client coaching and creating and monitoring project work plans.
Internships Available Coast to Coast
We are also seeking interns in both our Washington, DC and San Francisco offices. Internships at Spitfire are full-time, paid positions. All candidates must have a bachelor's degree or be in their final semester/trimester of college. Candidates should have at least three to six months of office experience or have held a previous full-time internship.
